LOS ANGELES - Jimmy (2004) is a friendly and sincere teen with aspirations to enroll in a nursing program in a four-year college right after graduation from high school. Specifically, Jimmy wants to work in the area of sports medicine with his medical training. Academic advisement was in order and we headed over to the Patricia A. Chin School of Nursing at Cal State L.A. University with their Dean and Professors.
Jimmy got a firsthand look at the state of the art nursing simulation lab where he rounded with his mentor professors tending to very realistic simulated patients.
Jimmy learned all about the “vitals” of becoming a nursing student as well as learning to read and take vitals. Jimmy loves many kinds of sports, such as baseball, basketball, and football. More than just a fan, Jimmy says he plays in these sports and an injury once upon a time prompted his desire to look into the healing aspect for sports.
Spirituality is very important to Jimmy. He affirms that with God and church, he has changed for the better and will be able to achieve his dreams. The philosophy of nursing is healing the person physically, emotionally and spiritually. What a good fit this profession can be for Jimmy. For now, Jimmy is looking for a forever family to help nurture growth, security and a career.
