Wednesday's Child: Kahlid and Ah'Niyah hope to give thanks to a forever family

The holiday season is upon us and who doesn't look forward to having a Thanksgiving dinner with all of the trimmings? Most Thanksgiving dinners average more than 10 individual dishes - that's a lot of cooking! This week's Wednesday's Child sibling set, Kahlid (2009) and Ah'Niyah (2011) are ready to help out with the festivities and will bring the dessert. We met up with these two at Duff's Cakemix on Melrose in Los Angeles, CA. Duff's Cakemix is a DIY dessert design studio where Khalid and Ah'Niyah, using only the decorating tools, embellishments, and their creativity, designed and decorated their own Thanksgiving cupcakes. Each cupcake turned out not only delicious to look at but also delicious to eat!

As the older brother, Khalid is quick to set an example for his sister. Khalid regularly looks out for Ah'Niyah and tries to teach her and be a mentor to her. Ah'niyah happily accepts her brother's guidance and is quick to follow Khalid's lead and choices. Khalid is a natural leader and hopes to continue his role to protect and serve and become a police officer when he grows up. In his free time, Khalid enjoys being outside playing sports (especially football and basketball) and with his toy cars and trucks.

Ah'Niyah is the social butterfly of the two. She loves to play with her friends and interacting with others in social situations. In her quieter moments, she relaxes by watching episodes of Doc McStuffins on television. Ah'niyah hopes to be a teacher when she grows up. At times, Ah'Niyah needs reminders with setting boundaries and she would benefit from a parent who can support and work with her developmental challenges.

There's no doubt that if you invite these two to your Thanksgiving dinner, dessert will be a piece of cake! Tune into Wednesday's Child and then call to learn more about adoption at 866-921-ADOPT (2367).
