Wednesday's Child: LGBT teen named Summer looking for an adoptive family

Summer is a jovial and outgoing teen in foster care who hopes to find a safe and loving permanent family. She has a love for the performing arts and is on her high school's dance guard team. So we took her to visit the Spirit Squad at Cal. State LA University to experience what she loves would look like at the next level in college.

As an institution of diversity and inclusion in higher learning, CSULA Spirit Squad stepped forward to embrace Summer, a transgendered youth. Summer was a little shy initially. As she toured the campus, picked up some gear to wear and met the team, she warmed up and shined in her element.

Summer took the lead to share a genre of dance unique to her squad as well as learning those techniques of CSULA's Spirit Squad.

Summer is a connoisseur of the arts and is attending a school with a strong arts program. Her hope is to pursue education and a career in dance. Summer is also interested in, as shown through her charisma to consider career option #2, being a motivational speaker to help empower others.

Summer enjoyed being a member of the CSULA Spirit Squad for an afternoon. Wherever she might ultimately land for college, Summer is taking that leap first in finding a loving, safe and supportive family open to her many dimensions and with unconditional acceptance. Tune in to Wednesday's Child and then call to learn more about adoption at 1-866-921-ADOPT (2367).
