One person dead following double-shooting in Pacoima

One person is dead following a double-shooting Friday night in Pacoima.

Los Angeles police say the deadly shooting happened in the area of Van Nuys Boulevard and Glenoaks Boulevard at about 8 p.m.

Police believe this was a gang-related drive-by shooting. They say two men were walking on the sidewalk when a car pulled up to them and the two people inside the car started yelling, then five to six gunshots ring out.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene and another victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

Authorities described the suspect car as a black vehicle with tinted windows. Police did not immediately release a suspect description. The victims have not yet been identified.

Some of the bullets hit nearby businesses.

Witnesses at La Bocana restaurant nearby said a man was standing outside near the edge of the parking lot when a dark-colored vehicle drove by and shot at him. One of the bullets hit the restaurant's window.

No other injuries were reported in the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing. No further details were immediately known.
