Storms brought mixed bag of extreme weather

- From snow and hail to lightning and thunder, yesterday’s storm brought a mixed bag of extremes. The local mountains received their first dusting of snow of the season, and rainfall in several mountain and foothill communities reached record highs.  In Simi Valley the rain fell in sheets before turning into pea-sized hail.

From Malibu to Rancho Palos Verdes, lifeguards even cleared the beaches on Tuesday because of thunder and lightning.

The likelihood of more extreme weather over the next several months because of El Nino is prompting LA County officials to urge homeowners to consider buying flood insurance, especially in high risk areas.

Back to the Antelope Valley, there’s a freeze watch that goes late into Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
