LOS ANGELES (FOX 11) - Los Angeles artist Robert Vargas has painted everyone from Hollywood rock stars (Nikki Six) to Skid Row's homeless.
His murals decorate buildings in downtown LA, including "Our Lady of DTLA," to five star restaurants such as Faith and Flower.
But once a month, the artist gives back to the city he calls home during DTLA's Artwalk.
He turns a corner of the city into an outdoor studio, choosing his models from the crowd. He has them sit for a portrait and shares what's usually an intimate experience with an audience that grows and grows with each portrait, often spilling out into the street.
Vargas let us tag along for one of these outdoor demonstrations where he completed a stranger's portrait in just six minutes.
