Is Butter In Your Coffee Healthy?

Coffee with butter. It sounds like something Paula Deen would whip up -- but it's actually the latest health craze that promises to help you lose weight, fill you up and make you feel "invincible."

We went to investigate this jacked up java craze! But buttery coffee is a thing. And it promises to make you look better, work harder and feel stronger? We went to Earth Bar in West Hollywood to try butter in our brew.

The coffee is called "Bullet Proof" -- comes from organic, "upgraded" beans And the butter? Is Ghee.

"GHEE is clarified butter, takes out lactose... dense concentration just pure healthy fats helps body hold on to lean muscle mass," explains Earth Bar's Zach Kurt.  "It acts as a really nice buffer lot of people like coffee.. but ... crash but if you use ghee it provides a buffer. You don't spike and crash."

"It's easy to assimilate into your cells so you have a nice awakening energy with stable burn. Some people are replacing breakfast with bullet proof coffee," Kurt says.

Here's the buttery bottom line: the coffee is creamy, easy to drink and fills you up. But did it make us harder... Better.... Faster.... Stronger? Judge for yourselves.

Bullet Proof coffee costs $5.95 a cup at Earth Bar. It's also available at Bullet Proof coffee shops or online.
