Broadcaster Jaime Jarrin will be enshrined into the 'Ring Of Honor'

by Laura Diaz

The already storied life of broadcaster Jaime Jarrin is about to add another brilliant chapter.
Friday, September 21 he will join some of the greatest names in baseball. Robinson, Koufax, Lasorda and fellow Dodger broadcaster Vin Scully. Jarrin will be enshrined into the " Ring of Honor." It is rarified air for anyone -- but for a kid who immigrated from Ecuador and could barely speak English? Breathtaking. The always humble Jarrin describes the honor as a " dream."

He says he is so very grateful to this country; grateful to the Dodgers organization and grateful to his family. Jaime said his wife almost cried when she heard of the honor to be bestowed upon him. Of course, the Dodger fans are part of that extended family. As the " Voice of the Dodgers en Espanol" --- Jarrin has been the soundtrack of summer for generations of Spanish speaking fans. We just learned today he will be sticking around! The Dodgers announced they had extended his contract until the year 2020.

As fellow Dodger broadcaster, Rick Monday said on Friday, "The stadium will be filled with friends of Jaime Jarrin." I will be there, along with thousands of others, to honor the esteemed broadcaster, Jaime Jarrin.
