Hart High School alumni reunite at the World Series

- In Santa Clarita, in Northern LA County, team sports are a way of life.

It's hard to find a minivan not loaded with athletic equipment and kids being carted from game to game. Perhaps, it's no surprise then that two star major league baseball players, both appearing in this year's World Series, grew up and played together at the local William S. Hart High School.

These two Hart High alums are the pride of the Santa Clarita Valley! I'm a Hart High alum too, so the opportunity to visit my alma mater, while reporting this story for FOX 11 was a thrill.

In 2008, Mike Montgomery of the Chicago Cubs and Trevor Bauer of the Cleveland Indians played for Coach Jim Ozella, Head Varsity Coach for Hart High Baseball.

The proud coach texted me in the middle of Wednesday night's game, where Montgomery pitched a spectacular game and said, "Are you watching my guys?"

And who wouldn't want to watch these guys? Hart High has some amazing athletic pedigree, boasting six players right now playing in the major leagues.

Santa Clarita is my hometown. So I know I'm not an unbiased reporter on this one, but it's a wonderful place to call home.

I hope you will watch the Fall Classic on FOX 11, even though the Dodgers and Angels are not contenders this year. Feel a connection. Lend a cheer for the local SoCal boys who worked hard and dreamed big and now realizing their dream.
