Will the Drought Impact Water-Dropping Fire Choppers?

When it comes to water conservation during the drought we can save water by cutting down on our sprinkler use, showers, or brushing our teeth, but there's one use of water where water can't be cutback. Firefighting!

That's the assessment from fire officials with Cal Fire, LA County Fire and LA City Fire.

They all say the same thing. Water is, and always has been, the way to stop fires. And, to save lives and property, there is no cutting back.

Cal Fire's Riverside County Fire Chief is concerned about the dwindling supply for water-dropping helicopters. Chief John Wilcox says if things don't get better in the next six months it "could become difficult" for the aerial effort.
