Wild Pursuit Ends In El Monte With Gunfire

EL MONTE (CNS) - A suspect wanted for felony domestic violence was shot by Los Angeles police officers in El Monte today at the end of a two-hour vehicle pursuit, police said.

The shooting occurred in the 11900 block of Valley Boulevard around 3:35 a.m. The condition of the suspect was not known, said Los Angeles police Sgt. Jason Atkins.

Broadcast footage from the scene showed multiple shots were fired in the incident. The pursuit began near the intersection of East 94th Street and South Central Avenue around 1:30 a.m., Atkins said.

The pursuit of the Toyota commuter van was confined to surface streets and ended with the vehicle moving slowly through El Monte before it came to a stop amid gunfire.

No police officers were reported hurt.
