Where to watch 4th of July fireworks in Los Angeles, OC

Fireworks displays marking the 240th anniversary of the nation's independence will be held throughout Los Angeles County tonight, including the first city-organized show in Torrance since 2010.

The 20-minute show in Torrance will begin at 9 p.m. and feature a patriotic soundtrack to complement the more than 1,000 shells to be fired.

A portion of the area surrounding the Torrance Courthouse will be open as a viewing area on a first-come, first-served basis. The Civic Center parking lot will be closed for the launching of fireworks. Tickets are required to
enter the Toyota Sports Complex viewing area. Distribution ended Saturday. The show will be broadcast on Time Warner Cable Channel 3 and Frontier Fios Channel 31 in the Torrance area, over the air on KNET-TV Channel 25.2 and online at TorranceCA.Gov/CableTV/15747.htm.

What is annually billed as California's longest-running Independence Day fireworks show will be held at the Rose Bowl. More than one ton of fireworks will be used at the 90th annual AmericaFest at the Rose Bowl, including a
special shell, "Moons of Jupiter," commemorating the Juno expedition conducted by the nearby Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

The main engine of the solar-powered spacecraft is scheduled to be fired at 8:18 p.m. today to begin a 35-minute burn that will place it into orbit around Jupiter.

The show will also include motorcycle stunts by the TNT Freestyle Motor Cross Show and a performance by the Beatles tribute band Liverpool Legends. The band members were selected by Louise Harrison, the sister of the late Beatle George Harrison, according to show organizers.

The show will begin at 7 p.m. The first 10,000 people in the stadium will receive an exclusive LED AmericaFest wristband.

The Rose Bowl parking lots will open at 9 a.m. A festival with food vendors, entertainment, craft-making, exhibits and inflatable rides for children will begin at 2 p.m. General admission tickets are $13, while reserved
seating is $25. Active-duty military members and three of their family members will receive free admission by showing a current military identification at Gate B. Parking is $25.

In Los Angeles, the fourth annual Fourth of July Block Party at Grand Park will have City Hall taking "on a starring role for the first time in a fireworks show that will surprise, delight and amaze," Grand Park Director
Lucas Rivera said.

The show will be set to patriotic and contemporary music and can best be seen from the Music Center Plaza, Rivera said. Admission is free. The party will run from 2-9:30 p.m. and will cover five blocks from Spring Street to Hope Street between Temple Street and First Street. It will include music played on stages at The Music Center Plaza and Grand Park.

There will be a dedicated play area on Grand Park's Event Lawn between Broadway and Spring Street, where children from 4 to 14 years old can play a variety of games. Food will be available from more than 25 local vendors.

Marina del Rey's 20-minute fireworks show will begin at 9 p.m., synchronized to music played over loudspeakers at Burton Chace Park and Fisherman's Village.

Fireworks will also follow the concert by Chicago at the Hollywood Bowl, the Los Angeles Dodgers-Baltimore Orioles game at Dodger Stadium, the Los Angeles Galaxy-Vancouver Whitecaps FC Major League Soccer game at StubHub Center and the Lancaster JetHawks-Visalia Rawhide California League baseball game at The Hangar.
