Teen Students Strip Searched?

If your 13-year-old daughter was searched at school, for suspicion of drugs, and she was asked to remove her shirt, unfasten her bra and shake her breasts - what would you do?

In the case of Anita and Chris Pringle, they got mad, really mad. They were called by their daughter at Serrano Middle School in Highland, where the 13-year-old and a 15-year-old classmate had been asked to step into the office. A container with a trace amount of marijuana, had been found in the 13 year old's purse. The girls say they were taken into a room, where the vice principal, a woman, proceeded to ask them to take off their shirts, unbutton their bras and shake their breasts. The 15-year -ld says she was asked to also take off her pants, and shake the tights she was wearing underneath. Both say that no drugs were found on their bodies.

The San Bernardino City Unified School District sent Fox 11 a written response saying: "Regarding a student search at Serrano Middle School, our investigation has confirmed that beyond a traditional pat down, there was no further physical contact between the students and Serrano staff. The students and their undergarments remained covered at all times."

Linda Bardere, the District's Director of Communications, insist the search follows their Education Code.

But the Pringles' attorney, Milton Grimes says this was no "pat down", and that the school officials should know it is illegal. The Supreme Court ruled on a very similar case a few years ago, saying strip searches of young teenagers are illegal, he explains....adding that " when you ask anyone, let alone a young girl, to remove her clothing and unhook their bra, it's a strip search, not a pat down.

Anita has pulled her daughter from school, and is considering her options. Other parents at the school, who did not want their names used, did tell us that the same kind of search has been performed on other students. If that is the case, says Milton Grimes, they should be calling his office, at (323) 295-3023.

In case you were wondering, the marijuana found inside the container in the 13-year-old's bag was weighed at -.285 grams according to the report handed to the parents.. The girl's dad, Chris Pringle can barely contain himself, saying...." for that, some adult touched my daughter? there is NO reason anyone should be touching my daughter."
