Stolen Car Suspect Leads Police On 200 Mile Chase

(FOX 11) A stolen vehicle suspect was taken into custody Monday afternoon following a high-speed chase that covered more than 200 miles.

The pursuit began at about 1:30 p.m. on the 15 Freeway in Escondido, just north of San Diego. An officer attempted to pull over a reported stolen black BMW and the driver took off, authorities said.

The suspect and tailing California High Patrol (CHP) cruisers were traveled northbound on the 15 Freeway crossing into Riverside County and then into San Bernardino County, officials said.

The driver, identified as 47-year-old Charles Bouvier Williams, eventually slowed the car to the right shoulder at about 4:30 p.m. in Baker, CHP confirmed to FOX 5.
