Woman visits police station simply to 'hug an officer'

A police department in Colorado posted heartwarming photos of a woman who came into the station simply looking to give a hug.

The Arvada Police Department posted photos on Facebook showing a woman who came into the Lake Arbor station. According to the department, she was upset about the recent loss of officers around the country -- so she came in to hug it out.

The officer pictured in the photo is Officer Steiner, and she hugged Steiner not once -- but twice!

Many Facebook users were touched by the kind gesture, and the post soon went viral. The woman was later identified by local news outlets as "Mary," who said she didn't want the fame -- she just wanted to give a hug.

The woman caught on camera hugging an Arvada Police Department, Colorado officer Monday doesn't want the fame and says this whole "viral photo business" is bad. She just went to give a hug. That's what she's done all her life. 9NEWS (KUSA) 4 and 5 today.
