San Francisco elementary school says 'no' to homework

It's a kids' dream come true!

A school with a "no homework" policy.

Some parents fed up with the tension over homework are also welcoming the news from a San Francisco elementary school
Fairmount Elementary adopted the new no-homework policy this year saying studies show "There are little or no positive academic benefits of elementary school aged kids doing homework."

The principal said he thought it was more important for the kids to experience real life than be tied down to a chair and a piece of paper.

One mother welcomes the idea saying she always felt like a drill sergeant while getting her son to complete all of his homework
So far, Principal Rodriguez says the new policy has been with a lot of positivity.
Meanwhile, the San Francisco Unified School District sent out a statement saying homework or no homework is up to each teacher.
