'Cesar Classics' wet dog food recalled due to possible plastic contamination

Mars Petcare US has voluntarily recalled certain packages of its Cesar Classics dog food after investigators found they may be contaminated with plastic pieces that could increase the risk of choking.

The Franklin, Tennessee, company on Friday issued the recall, which affects its filet mignon flavor with a UPC code of 23100017792. The products were sold individually and in variety packs.

Individual packages have the lot codes 631FKKC and 631GKKC, which are printed on the side of each tray. Affected variety packs can be found with the following lot codes: 632D14JC, 633B24JC, 634A14JC, 634A24JC, 634B14JC, 634B24JC, 634E14JC, 635A24JC, 635B14JC, 636D24JC, 636E14JC.

All recalled products have a best-before date of Aug. 4, 2018 (080418) and Aug. 5, 2018 (080518).
