To floss...Or not to floss?

For years dentists have told us that it's necessary to prevent gum disease and cavities.

But a new study says forget the dental floss...There's no proof it works.

The government's latest dietary guidelines has removed the recommendation for flossing.

This follows more than two dozen studies calling the case for flossing "weak" and "very unreliable."

But not all dentists agree.

The "American Dental Association" insists there is proof flossing prevents plaque, gingivitis, and tooth decay.

They say short-term flossing studies do not consider the long term effects.
