Power Outages Reported In Redondo Beach

REDONDO BEACH (CNS/FOX 11) - A pair of outages Saturday left 80 Southern California Edison customers without power in Redondo Beach, where a traffic signal was dark and causing road congestion, authorities said.

A broken power pole cross arm with a wire down in the area of Vail Avenue and Manhattan Beach Boulevard cut service to 77 SCE customers, according to a utility spokeswoman.

That outage began about 9 p.m. Friday and restoration of service was expected about 5 p.m. Saturday, SCE's Maureen Green said.

A failed cable knocked out electrical service to three SCE customers in the area of Redondo Beach Boulevard and Grevilla Avenue about 1:25 p.m., Green said.

In that case service was expected to be restored by 10 p.m., she said.

The traffic signal at the intersection of Redondo Beach Boulevard and Grevilla Avenue was dark and there was traffic congestion in the area, but the light became operational about 3:15 p.m., according to Redondo Beach police.
