Police Arrest Woman Accused Of Attacking Tourist At Santa Monica Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf

UPDATE: SANTA MONICA (FOX 11/CNS) - Police have arrested a suspect in the attack on a tourist at a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Santa Monica.

Sara Rizo, was taken into custody Monday around 10:30 p.m. in the area of 2nd Street and Santa Monica Boulevard. She was booked for battery with serious bodily injury.

The crime occurred about 5:30 p.m. last Tuesday inside the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in the 200 block of Santa Monica Boulevard, said Sgt. Rudy Camarena.

The victim was with her husband and another family member when a woman sitting next to them suddenly attacked her and threw her to the floor, then ran off, Camarena said.

The suspect was described as white, in her 40s, about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing about 130 pounds. She had long brown hair in a ponytail. She did not use or display a weapon, Camarena said.
