Plane Makes Emergency Landing In LA River

VERNON (CNS) - A small plane towing a banner made a safe emergency landing today in the Los Angeles River bed in Vernon, authorities said. It's unclear what prompted the emergency landing of the Piper PA-25 Pawnee about 1:10 p.m. in the vicinity of Atlantic and Bandini boulevards, Ian Gregor of the Federal Aviation Administration said.

The pilot, the plane's sole occupant, was unharmed and the aircraft was not damaged, Gregor said. The plane's registered owner is Florida-based Aerial Banners Inc., according to the FAA's online aircraft registry.
