Girl, 6, found chewing on bag of crack cocaine in Kingsessing elementary school

A Philadelphia kindergartner was sent to the hospital after a school teacher noticed the young girl had been chewing on a bag of crack cocaine.

Investigators say the six-year-old student at Hardy Williams Elementary School in Kingsessing got it from a classmate's backpack and thought it was candy.

Police say the student put the bag filled with the drug in her mouth and began chewing it. The teacher noticed the girl was chewing on the bag and sent her to the nurse.

The student was taken to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for further evaluation and was okay.

Police are continuing to investigate how the drugs got into the classmate's backpack.
