Video: NJ State Troopers deliver baby on Parkway

Two New Jersey state troopers helped deliver a baby on the Garden State Parkway.

The woman's husband was driving her to the hospital Monday at about 4:15 a.m. when they realized they weren't going to make it. They pulled over on the shoulder in Hillside and called 911.

Troopers Alex Muro and Arnaldo Mateo arrived and found the woman in labor.

Video from their patrol car camera captured the troopers telling the woman to push and breathe. They exclaimed, "It's a girl!"

The couple stopped on the shoulder at milepost 143.2 and dialed 9-1-1. When Trooper II Alex Muro and Trooper Arnaldo Mateo arrived shortly after being dispatched, they found mom-to-be already in labor in the back seat of the car. At 4:26 a.m., Tpr. Mateo was cradling a newborn baby girl. Mateo cradled the newborn and both troopers cut the umbilical cord before handing the newborn to her mother. Mother and child are doing well.

The birth comes after an off-duty state trooper helped deliver a baby on the parkway last month.
