Mattel rolls out line of Barbie dolls based on real-life women

- Just before International Women's Day, Mattel has released a line of new dolls based on real-life women.

There are two groups: one called "Inspiring Women" which features dolls based on Katherine Johnson, the NASA  Mathematician featured in the movie "Hidden Figures," artist Frieda Kahlo, and pilot Amelia Earhart.

The other group is called "Sheros" and now has 14 new additions to the female hero line, including dolls based on "Wonder Woman" director Patty Jenkins and Olympic gold medal winner, snowboarder Chloe Kim.  Other Shero dolls honor fashion designers, journalists, actresses and entrepreneurs.

The dolls were created after Mattel took a survey of mothers around the globe and found that they worried about the role models their daughters were exposed to

The dolls  aren't available in stores quite yet, but are up  for pre-sale on Mattel's website.
