Foster Farms recalls 220,000 pounds of chicken nuggets

Foster Farms is recalling more than 200,000 pounds of its fully cooked frozen chicken nuggets that were sold to distributors in California and several other Western states.

The chicken nuggets may be contaminated with extraneous blue plastic and black rubber materials, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The nuggets were produced on February 22 and March 8 of this year.

The products subject to the recall are 5-pound bags containing Foster Farms 'Breast Nuggets - Nugget Shaped Breaded Chicken Breast Patties with Rib Meat' and 10-pound bulk boxes of Foster Farms 'Fully Cooked Breast Nuggets - Nugget Shaped Chicken Breast Patties with Rib Meat Fritter.'

Foster Farms says the 5-pound bags were sold at Costco locations in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah and Washington and the 10-pound bags were sold to non-retail wholesale distributors in California and Arizona.

The company discovered the problem after receiving several customer complaints and immediately notified the USDA.

There have been no confirmed reports of illness linked to the products, according to the USDA. Customers who bought the recalled products are urged not to eat them and to throw them away or return them.

Foster Farms released a statement saying, 'food safety is, and has always been, our top priority and we are vigilant in employing the most up-to-date safety measures to produce wholesome, healthy and delicious food products.'

Anyone with questions about the recall may call the Foster Farms Recall hotline at, 1-800-338-8051.
