Former U.S. attorney general Janet Reno dies at age 78

Janet Reno, the first female attorney general of the United States has died.

She passed away in Miami, from complications of Parkinson's disease.

President Clinton chose her to lead the justice department during his first term.

She was the second-longest tenured attorney general, serving from 1993 to 2001.

Reno was at the center of several political firestorms, including the deadly Branch Davidian raid in Waco, and the armed seizure of 5-year-old Cuban refugee Elian Gonzalez.

Janet Reno was 78-years-old.
