Federal agents bust massive, multi-state shoplifting ring in Tijuana

Federal agents have busted a massive, multi-state shoplifting ring based out of Tijuana operating for nearly a decade!

Twenty-two people have been indicted in the scheme and authorities have seized thousands of dollars in cash, plus dozens of trash bags bursting with luxury goods

According to a federal indictment, the ringleaders would dispatch teams of thieves here in San Diego county and as far away as Washington and Maryland.

The shoplifting crews would scout stores and choreograph the heists ultimately using metallic-lined bags to hide the goods and evade security sensors

Stolen goods were then sold at huge discounts in Tijuana.

Authorities say the shoplifting ring was responsible for thirty-eight thefts between June 2008 and July 2017.
