Donald Trump among nominated candidates for the 2016 Nobel Peace Prize

Now hear this! 2016 Presidential candidate Donald Trump has been added to the list of nominated candidates for the Nobel Peace Prize.

According to several national and international news sources, Trump would join Pope Francis, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, Greek island rescue groups welcoming Syrian refugees, a former ISIS sex slave and the Afghan women's cycling team.

It's unclear who may have nominated Trump. Qualified nominators include lawmakers of national parliaments and former Nobel Peace Prize winners. Their candidates are not normally made public.

The Agence France Presse (AFP) received confirmation of Trump's nomination from the director of the Peace Research Institute of Oslo.

Others who have been nominated but did not receive the prize in the past include Russia's Vladimir Putin, Mahatma Gandhi and even Adolf Hitler.
