FAA looking to hire 1,400 air traffic controllers

- Are you looking for a job? The Federal Aviation Administration is hiring hundreds of air traffic controllers.

From August 8-15, the FAA will accept online applications for 1,400 entry-level positions on USAJobs.gov.

While the job is known for being highly demanding, it can also be lucrative. The median annual wage for air traffic control specialists was $122,950 in 2015. The median hourly wage was $59.11.

The salaries for entry-level positions increase as each new training phase is completed.

Job applications must be a U.S. citizen under age 31, pass a medical examination, a security examination, speak English clearly and be willing to relocate to an FAA facility based on the agency’s staffing needs. 

Additionally, all applicants must attend and complete required training courses at the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City.

The FAA expects more than 25,000 applications for the open positions.
