Missing 16-Year-Old Chinese Tourist Found Safe In West Hollywood

CLAREMONT (CNS/FOX 11) - A 16-year-old boy who went missing Friday after coming to Claremont from China with his mother to visit local colleges was found safe about noon Monday in West Hollywood, a sheriff's sergeant said.

Someone recognized Jin Wuwei from news reports and called authorities, according to Claremont police.

Jin was reported missing by his mother around 9:15 p.m. Friday after he left to walk to a nearby college and never returned, according to Claremont police Lt. Lori Davenport.

Jin and his mother arrived from Beijing Wednesday and were touring local colleges, according to police. He had last been seen on security cameras walking away from the Claremont Lodge at 736 S. Indian Hill Blvd. at 12:42 p.m. Friday, according to Davenport.

Jin had departed with a backpack, a bag, several hundred dollars, a credit card and cellphone, according to his mother and police.

Jin's father came from China to help in the search, according to a broadcast report.
