Midday Sunday: Supervisor Hilda Solís

(FOX 11) On Tuesday, Los Angeles County followed in the footsteps of the City of Los Angeles and passed a law requiring a $15 per hour minimum wage by 2020.

The five member county Board of Supervisors was evenly split on the issue until Hilda Solís, its newest member, announced a few days before the vote that she would support the the minimum wage plan.

Prior to joining the Board of Supervisors in December, Ms. Solis served as the Secretary of Labor in the administration of President Barack Obama. Before that she served eight years in Congress as a member of the House of Representatives which was preceded by two years in the California State Assembly.

Ms. Solís has often been the first and only Hispanic to serve in the offices she has held.
