Midday Sunday: Santa Monica Police Chief

(FOX 11) Jacqueline Seabrooks has spent most of her life, 34 years to be exact, as a police officer.

She grew up in South Los Angeles and graduated from the Rio Hondo College Police Academy. Her first job as a police officer was with the California State Police Department but she quickly moved to the Santa Monica Police Department.

Seabrooks eventually became the City of Inglewood's Chief of Police before returning to Santa Monica, as its Chief in 2012.

Seabrooks has brought innovative new ideas about law enforcement to her job in Santa Monica, among them more effective ways to work with the city's population of homeless people as well as the mentally ill.
