Michael Jordan hands out Thanksgiving meals to families impacted by Hurricane Florence

Michael Jordan passed out Thanksgiving Meals to families still recovering from the impacts of Hurricane Florence.

The owner of the Charlotte Hornets assisted Lowe's in handing out dozens of meals in his hometown of Wilmington, NC on Tuesday ahead of the holiday..

"You know I'm from here. This is where I learned to play the game of basketball here," Jordan said. "Being in the position that I am, to be able to come back and give, and to help some of the people deal with the struggles that they have to deal with. It's just trying to unite everyone in support. This is where I came from and I want to initiate it, but I think other people will follow."

Jordan also made a surprise visit to the Community Boys & Girls Club and distributed 150 care packages for all the children, which included a pair of shoes, socks and basic need items.

After Hurricane Florence hit, Jordan donated $2 million to the relief efforts split between the American Red Cross and the Foundation For The Carolinas' Hurricane Florence Response Fund ($1M each).

"If I can bring a smile to their face especially during this time, I'm willing to do that without a doubt."
