Mayor Garcetti: Conserve by 'Showering with a Friend...'

If the City of Los Angeles hasn't told you enough times to conserve water get ready for a barrage of new advertising aimed at getting you to cut back. Coming to the side of a sanitation truck, an insert in a DWP bill, a movie theater, TV and Radio ad an "unprecedented" campaign with the three words "SAVE THE DROP!"

At a news conference, Mayor Eric Garcetti said "We must tackle our drought crisis head on." And that, he says, is the goal of  SAVE THE DROP!

Conserve Water: Shower with a Friend?

Garcetti is a big fan of turning grassy yards into rocky dryscapes. The actual term for turning turf and installing drought tolerant vegetation is xeriscaping.

Last year the Mayor ordered a 20% cut in LA's water use by 2017. Now, this campaign to help meet Governor Brown's mandatory 25% statewide water cut.

The Mayor's message is save water drops every way you can. His words: "Whether its replacing your lawn, your sprinklers, getting a pool cover, showering with a friend... hopefully its somebody you know well. If you don't take action Sacramento is going to mandate how we tackle our drought."
