Man Killed, Woman Injured When Struck By Bus At Crosswalk

The couple, whose relationship was not known, were in a crosswalk on Avenue I at the intersection of South Catalina Avenue when they were struck by the left-turning Los Angeles Department of Transportation bus around 6:15 p.m., Redondo Beach Police Department Sgt. Shawn Freeman said.

The age and name of the male victim were not known, but Freeman said witnesses described him as "elderly". The female victim was believed to be in her 70s, Freeman said.

The driver of the bus was uninjured, but it was not known if any passengers were injured, Freeman said.
