The wife of the approximately 60-year-old man met deputies at a separate location at about 12:30 a.m. and said she had been involved in a domestic violence incident with her husband, who was armed with a rifle, according to Deputy Amber Smith of the Sheriff's Information Bureau.
Deputies went to the couple's home in the 900 block of Willow Avenue and saw the man, armed with a long gun, walking around inside, Smith said.
They contained the scene, evacuated some neighbors and called in a Special Weapons Team, she said.
Commands to surrender were given in English and Mandarin, but there was no response, Smith said.
Units entered the home sometime between noon and 1 p.m. and found the man dead from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound, Smith said.
