The main ruptured above the three-story residence in the 3700 block of West Effingham Place around 11:45 p.m. Thursday, news videographers reported from the scene. The basement of the residence was flooded by the water, the home owner said.
Los Angeles Department of Water and Power spokeswoman Kim Hughes said two other main breaks were also reported early Friday. The first, in Eagle Rock, was a 12-inch main near the intersection of Avenue 45 and El Paso Drive, at 2:08 a.m.
The second, in East Hollywood, was a six inch main in the 600 block of North Juanita Avenue around 3:15 a.m.
