Woman's body found in dumpster in West Hollywood

A woman's body was found Wednesday in a dumpster in West Hollywood.

The death was reported about 11:55 a.m. in the 8700 block of Beverly Boulevard, near Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, according to Deputy Ryan Rouzan of the Sheriff's Information Bureau.

The dumpster was located in a parking lot behind what used to be a Jerry's Deli.

Sheriff's Homicide Bureau detectives were dispatched to conduct a death investigation, Rouzan said.

"We are working to find out, first of all, who this person is, and secondly, how she died,'' sheriff's Sgt. Marcelo Quintero told reporters at the scene behind the former Jerry's Famous Deli. "We ... have people who either are homeless or in some sort of transient conditions that use this place to sleep here at night.''

A person walked into the West Hollywood sheriff's station and reported that a body might be located in a trash bin in the area and deputies fanned out and located the body, which was covered in some sort of blanket, according to reports from the scene.

It was not immediately clear if the woman met with foul play or how long she has been dead.
