HAWTHORNE, CA (FOX 11) - Two people have been arrested after a violent purse theft in broad daylight at a car dealership in Hawthorne.
Hawthorne police arrested 33-year-old Ronnie Brown of Los Angeles after he was identified in security video attacking a woman and stealing her purse.
In the video obtained by FOX 11 News, you can see a man wearing a hoodie walk up to a female employee at the Hawthorne Auto Mall located on the 11600 block of Prairie Avenue around 10 a.m. Tuesday morning. The man grabs the woman's purse and pulls her to the ground. Co-workers of the victim ran after the suspect and called police.
Officers deployed a drone, helicopter and searched the nearby streets with a K-9 for nearly two hours.
Officers were able to locate the man and take him into custody. Police also arrested 23-year-old Monique Wilson of Los Angeles. Wilson is accused of helping Brown escape.
The victim's name was not released but her boss says she is okay and expected to return to work Wednesday.
