Woman, 9-year-old girl killed in crash on Garden Grove Freeway

WESTMINSTER, Calif. (FOX 11) - Two people were killed in a crash early New Year's Day on the 22 Freeway near Westminster, authorities said.

The accident was reported just before 1 a.m. on the Garden Grove Freeway (SR-22) near East Valley View Drive involving four vehicles.

The victims were identified as a 33-year-old mother, who was killed at the scene, and a 9-year-old girl, who died at a nearby hospital.

Their names were not immediately released.

Video showed one man being taken into custody at the scene.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
