Vigil held in Palmdale for teacher Jennifer Parks killed in Vegas attack

(FOX 11) - Jennifer Parks taught kindergarten at Anaverde Hills School in Palmdale and in just three short years there, she made a big impact.

"She accommodated my daughter with things that she needed," parent, Reiana Rogers, said. "We're just going to miss her, she was a great teacher."

Rogers and many other parents are now facing the tough task of telling their kids Mrs. Parks won't be back in the classroom.

"I just had to sit her down and tell her that she's in heaven and she's an angel now," Rogers told her kindergartener daughter. "She's going to be teaching all the little baby angels up there."

Mrs. Parks was one of the victims of the concert shooting in Las Vegas Sunday night.

She was shot and killed when a barrage of bullets rained down on the crowd.

"There are bad people in the world that don't have a heart and that's what happens when people forget about love and she was love," parent, Ila Eaves, said.

Mrs. Parks was reportedly attending the festival with her husband, who was also shot. He's expected to recover.

The couple has two children together.

On Wednesday night hundreds at the school gathered for a vigil to remember the teacher.

"She used to always help us with our homework when we needed help," one of her student's said.

The teacher also coached volleyball.

"Whenever we did something not very good she would be like, get back up you can do this, she would be so inspiring," volleyball player, Olivia Nelson, said.

On Saturday October 7th, Go Tribe AV will be hosting "Jenny's Route 5K" - a memorial run for her family.

It starts at 8:00 am at 3145-C Rancho Vista Blvd, Palmdale.
