Possible suspect detained in Riverside luring case

Riverside Police have detained a possible suspect in the case of a man who they say tried to lure a young girl with a treat.

In security video from inside a Food 4 Less store located at the 3900 Block of Chicago Avenue in Riverside, you can see a man standing next to the men's bathroom while motioning to a 6-year old girl to come toward him.

The little girl told police the man was offering her a "treat."

A customer we spoke with had this reaction: "If you're a grown man and you're offering kids candy to come into a secluded place like a bathroom, there's no excuse of it."

The suspect was described as a white male between 60 to 70-years old, grey hair, 5'10", 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black shirt from Planet Fitness that says "Thumbs up." The little girl was not hurt. There was no physical contact.

She reported the incident nearly a month ago but detectives are just now releasing the footage.

If you recognize this man or have any information about this incident, please contact Detective C. Olivas at (951) 353-7136 or colivas@riversideca.gov.
