Union Pacfic freight train derails in Lincoln Heights

A Union Pacific freight train with five cars derailed Friday morning in the Lincoln Heights area of Los Angeles.

There were no immediate reports of injuries and there was no product spill or hazardous materials concern, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department. The derailment was reported at 4:09 a.m. near 750 S. Lamar St., he said.

All the cars were upright, including two automotive transport train cars, according to Humphrey. The crash happened near a UPS facility, he said.

The derailment did not affect commuters.
