Underprivileged LA kids receive new shoes, school supplies

More than 4,000 underprivileged children were expected to line up at the Fred Jordan Mission Thursday to receive new shoes, clothing and backpacks filled with school supplies as part of the 27th annual "Caring For Kids'' back-to-school event on Skid Row.

The giveaway event is organized by the mission and companies like Foot Locker, In-N-Out and Paul Mitchell participate in the cause. Children will be fed In-N-Out burgers and will receive haircuts.

The event will also feature a red carpet fashion show with kids sporting their new shoes and clothing.
