Two people injured after crashing into tree in Santa Clarita

Two people were critically injured Saturday when their vehicle crashed into a tree on an off-ramp from the Golden State (5) Freeway in Santa Clarita, authorities said.

It was reported at 2:12 p.m. on the Valencia Boulevard off-ramp from the northbound Golden State Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The vehicle was wrapped around the tree and upside down, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Two people were extricated from the vehicle and taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition, according to a fire dispatcher.

A SigAlert was issued shutting down one lane of the Valencia Boulevard off-ramp for about an hour, according to the CHP.
