Travelers returning home on busiest day of the year

Sunday night marks the end to the long holiday travel weekend and the rush is on at LAX as passengers try to get home in time for work on Monday morning.

Traffic was crawling on both the upper and lower deck as people waited to get picked up or dropped off.

Los Angeles International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the nation and the world, but on holiday weekends the vehicle and foot traffic gets worse.

Officials expected 2.38 million people to pass through the airport over the span on the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, that would be a new record for the airport.

Surprisingly, most passengers who spoke with FOX 11 said they had a relatively easy travel experience with the longest wait they encountered not at the security lines, but at the ride sharing stops as they waited for an Uber or Lyft to pick them up.
