TORRANCE, Calif. (FOX 11) - A couple from Torrance is celebrating the New Year with their newborn son, who was the first Southern California baby born in 2019 at Torrance Memorial Medical Center.
Baby Beau was born at 12:07 a.m. to Colleen and Dave Trejo.
Parents, nurses and staff at the Torrance Memorial Medical Center's Labor and Delivery Unit celebrated Beau's arrival with sparkling cider, champagne flutes and festive New Year hats.
Beau's mom said he is perfect and healthy.
"It is always special welcoming the first baby of the year and being the delivering nurse really is something I have always cherished in my 20 years working her in labor and delivery at Torrance Memorial," said Amalia Gonzalez, RN, Labor and Delivery at Torrance Memorial Medical Center, who delivered baby Beau. "Welcoming baby Beau into such a wonderful family is why I love what I do.
