LOS ANGELES, CA (FOX 11) - Thousands of protesters marched through the streets of downtown Los Angeles on Thursday to speak out against the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” policy on illegal immigration.
Many of the protesters were irate that children are being separated from their parents when they are caught entering the United States illegally.
“Anybody here who is a Trump supporter or thinks this is okay, is an unethical, immoral piece of shit,” said one protester. “If the statute of liberty stands for nothing, then I say bring her down!”
“No one deserves to be treated like an animal, let alone children and it doesn’t matter if someone came here illegally or not, what’s been happening just isn’t humane in the least of ways,” said a protester named Belissa.
“I feel the way people are being treated is unfair, I know it comes down to the law but I think the way the way they follow the law comes down to a bigger picture which comes down to racism,” said Celina Olivares.
Once the protest became several thousand strong, the crowd marched through the streets of downtown LA until they reached the federal detention center.
“I’m out here because we are literally ripping children from their parents arms as they’re coming to our country seeking help and shelter,” said Christian Sautter. “Kids should not be in detention centers they should be with their mothers I think that is an American value that everyone can agree with.”
