Teenager shot and killed in Harbor City; suspect on the loose

A male juvenile was shot and killed Monday night in front of the apartment complex where he lived on the 1500 block of East Anaheim Street in Harbor City. He was taken to the hospital where police said he was pronounced dead.

Detectives with LAPD's Harbor Patrol Division are having trouble piecing together suspect information and they're asking the public to come forward.

"I would like to send a message that this is a young person that was the victim of a violent crime and we should come together as a community with the police and try to identify who the suspects are so that we can put some closure to it and do some service to the family," Capt. Gisselle Espinoza, Los Angeles Police Department, said.

Detectives believe the shooting was possibly gang related, which could be the reason witnesses have hesitated in providing information.

The ground in front of the apartment complex is littered with bullet casing, but police don't know if there was one shooter or multiple shooters.

Detectives also interested in learning what kind of car the suspect or suspects may have been driving.
