Teen injured in stabbing in Placentia

A 17-year-old boy was wounded in a Placentia stabbing, authorities said today.

Police went at 11:18 p.m. Sunday to Melrose Street and Chapman Avenue in response to a report of a stabbing, said Placentia police Sgt. Brian Perry.

A responding officer saw a male kneeling over a boy who had been stabbed in the right side of his chest, Perry told City News Service. The male was not believed a suspect.

The wounded boy was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange for treatment, he said, adding he is not a gang member.

Witnesses told police a small, dark four-door car left the scene southbound on Melrose Street, Perry said.
